- Proceed on Sight Authority (PoSA)
Dorman have once again worked in close partnership with Network Rail to rapidly develop and gain Product Approval, for a signal solution to meet a specific requirement.
Proceed on Sight Authority (PoSA) signals are a new concept which allows signal staff to give drivers authority to pass a signal showing a red aspect. This authority will allow the driver to pass the signal and proceed at a speed slow enough that they may easily stop short of any obstruction.
Based on the highly successful Signal Lamp Module which has been used in many thousand LED signalling products across the network, the PoSA will greatly improve efficiency without compromising safety.
- Another Train Coming Lamp
Network Rail have now approved another product to the continually growing list of LED Railway signals designed and manufactured by Dorman. The ’Another Train Coming’ Lamp (Approval Number PA05/04023) is used to warn Level Crossing Users that the Barriers have remained closed due to the imminent arrival of another train on the crossing. The 200mm diameter LED unit (086/00037) has been produced in response to requests from engineers engaged in the Level Crossing Upgrade Programme. This programme is being rolled out across the country by Network Rail to reduce fatalities at level crossings by a combination of education and enhanced warning systems.
- Winter Health Check
At Dorman we fully understand that delivering value for money through increased service life of products is vital in the current economic climate and we are committed to helping you meet this target with our Winter Health Check service.
The volatility of the UK climate, especially the bad winters we have experienced in recent years, has meant Dorman signs are more important than ever in reducing accidents and the need to provide a clear and consistent message is paramount in modifying driver behaviour.
- Integrated Lightweight Signal (iLS)
The new Dorman iLS will revolutionise signalling from installation to operation. The quick to install, "go anywhere" design, is easy to maintain, and totally eliminates complex gantries and posts / ladders. iLS delivers considerable savings by reducing the cost of signal structures, man power and engineering activity when compared with the installation of conventional signals.
The award winning design concept has been greatly received throughout the rail industry and is currently progressing through Network Rail|s product acceptance process.
- iLS / Modular / Plug Couplers
Dorman is continuing to maintain its reputation as the number one LED signal manufacturer in the UK by being at the cutting edge of the modular railway concept. Capitalising on the extensive expertise gained on overseas projects, Dorman is already well placed to introduce Plug Couplers across the full range of LED signals it produces as soon as the regulations come into force and has also used this expertise in the new Dorman integrated Lightweight Signal (iLS), which uses Plug Couplers as standard to ensure true plug and play connection at the site.
The new iLS is designed to be completely tested and certified before leaving the factory and is available in any configuration needed by the customer. The lightweight GRP construction of the signal means it is easily installed without dedicated lifting equipment by a very small installation team and the unique design allows the signal to be placed in the six foot. This means expensive support gantries do not have to be designed and installed.
The speed and simplicity of design, installation and commissioning means that significant cost savings are made and will go a long way to helping Network Rail achieve the 30% savings needed for CP4.
- Universal Semaphore Lamp (USL)
A Dorman LED USL is a complete universal replacement light source designed to replace existing paraffin powered lamps in; low intesity, high intensity and ground mounted semaphore installations. The USL is directly interchangeable with existing oil powered lamps withot the need for design changes.
- Semaphore Battery Box
A Semaphore Battery Box is a rugged Cast Aluminium enclosure designed to house sufficient batteries to power two Dorman LED Universal Semaphore Lamp units for a period of up to 3 months without the need for maintanence. It has been designed so as it can be quickly and easily attached to any standard post.
- Standing Red Man
Dorman have added a new Network Rail approved product to their continually growing list of LED Railway signals. The Standing Red Man (Approval Number PA05/04023) is used to provide pedestrians with the same standard of warning provided to vehicular traffic.
The 200mm diameter LED signals (086/024195) has been produced in response to requests from engineers engaged in the Level Crossing Upgrade Programme. This programme is being rolled out across the country by Network Rail to reduce fatalities at level crossings by a combination of education and enhanced warning systems.
- LED Departure Direction Points Indicator
The Dorman LED Departure Direction Points Indicator utilises proven technology already used in the LED Drivers Crossing Indicator, and uses red and blue aspects to indicate to a driver the position points are set at before leaving the station.
- DF15
The latest addition to the Vehicle Activated Sign Range is the DF15 Speed Feedback Device which, through a set of user controlled parameters, delivers an escalating warning to speeding drivers.
The sign is set up and historical speed data is downloaded via a Bluetooth link between the sign memory and a Personal Digital Assistant operating a very user friendly system of drop down menus and tick boxes.
Any combination of the ‘Your Speed’ digital readout of the approaching vehicles speed, flashing lanterns and/or a ‘Slow Down’ warning legend can be set to trigger at different speeds if required. Additionally the sign can be set to trigger a ‘Slow Ice’ warning when the temperature drops below a user set threshold.
- DF11
A small lightweight Speed Feedback Device providing speed feedback to motorists helping improve their compliance with speed limits. These signs provide a proven effective and affordable solution to calming traffic and reducing speeders in neighbourhoods.
