ATSSA San Antonio SynchroGUIDE Launch
4th May 2007
Dorman has been selling a Sequential Flashing B-Lite (SynchroGUIDE) in the UK for the past 12 months and has launched the product at the ATSSA show in San Antonio in January.
The new lamps are used to convoy drivers safely as they approach roadworks. The SynchroGUIDE has been authorised by the Department for Transport in the UK for use on the Highways Agency raods has been well received throughout the UK traffic management community.
In the USA the product has ITE approval for the specification B.
The new lamps are designed to make works safter and easy for drivers to navigate through. The new synchronised flashing lamps help to direct traffic through works, the lights leading the way through new lane layouts. They are authorised to be used on all roads including those controlled by the Highways Agency and will mainly be used on coming at the start of roadworks and cross overs.
There have been many advances in modernising traffic management in the UK - not least in the way that drivers are guided through roadworks whilst maintaining the safety of those working on the carriageway, the new Dorman lamp has been seen as a great advance in improving safety at roadworks. Dorman believe the SynchroGUIDE could provide the same benefits as those seen in the UK, reducing accidents at roadworks and is positive about the reaction the product received at the ATSSA show.
Roads can be a hazardous workplace, the SynchroGUIDE improves driver and worker safety in the following ways:
- Drivers get into the correct lane in good time - less lane switching
- Concentrate on the road ahead, not the roadworks
- Be alert for works traffic leaving or entering roadworks
